Bundles are designed to make individual products look like less of a deal. Microsoft jacks up the cost of the individual products to make the bundle look even more appealing. They could easily sell each product for $100, instead of $250, to make it look like a more traditional "value meal" type bundle. But they would sell less bundles because no one would buy PowerPoint and just get Excel and Word for $200. I hope this helps, thanks for hosting the carnival!
